Right now, going into winter months, is a great time to replace the humidifier pad. Which is generally recommended once a year.

Recently did one that had growth seeping on it. Which can go right into the house air vents.

What a lot of people don't seem to realize is that mold grows in warm, high moisture areas. Doesn't seem natural to suspect growth inside the casing of a humidifier, I agree. But this does happen. Particularly when left untouched over a period of years.

Swapping it out is cheap (ours was less than $15 for a compatible) & easy to do.

Letting it go for years on end without changing or even viewing is not the wisest thing!
