Possibilities-
Wall switch corroded, needs replacement- $3
Controller board going bad- $80
Travel limit switch bad- $12
Obstruction sensors not compatible with opener-
An on, an on, an on...

You're dealing with an antiquated dinosaur- if it were me I'd cut my losses of time and frustration and get a new opener.

Hi! Thanks for the suggestion. I agree and may indeed end up getting a new system. Right now I just can't justify spending $400 - $500 to get the system and have someone install it when this one is still opening the door. The sensors are for this system they are just the "updated" ones. I am still leaning towards the wiring needing updated or the control board. However, the only time this is a real issue (besides safety which I know is the most important) is when backing out of the garage and having to come back in and use the wall switch to close the door (holding the button down). It was doing this off and on with the old sensors that is why I replaced them thinking that was the problem but now I am thinking it IS something else, i.e., the wiring and/or circuit board. The sensors do work sometimes, however, as I stated even when they are aligned (red light solid) they may not stay that way since there isn't a way to tighten them down. It may even be the receiver part is bad. I still think wires because if the control board was bad I am thinking that the door wouldn't open with the wall button or the remote(s) at all or just sometimes - it opens all of the time. Just a thought.
