I hope today is going well for you all. I have a plumbing question I'm hoping some of you can help me with. I need to replace the H20 Valve in this picture. I believe it says Brasscraft as the brand. Is this a valve I will have to saw off via the pipe or is it a compression valve?
The large nut close to the wall that screws on to the rest of the valve body clearly identifies this as a compression fitting.
It appears to be relatively new. Brasscraft has a reputation as a higher quality manufacturer. Why does the valve need to be replaced? There appears to be excessive pipe dope or Teflon tape wedged in the threads...

Most national home suppliers like home depot and lowes carry this exact compression valve.
