I have a two family home on a busy road in one of the most densely populated areas of the country. If someone decided to break in I would have timestamped HD video available immediately anywhere in the world with web access. If anyone walks on my porch, driveway, back yard, etc, a text message and email get sent along with a snapshot of what the camera sees at the time. The likelihood of someone being caught and prosecuted is much higher with details such as the date and time as well as having everything on video. You would also be amazed at who looks around when they aren't supposed to be.

i have 4 cameras in my house and i never feel the need to point them out to guests, on occasions some have asked and its for protection and to see my kids( 3 months and 18 months) while i'm at work. reviewing the cameras isnt a concern unless i HAVE to for legal sake(break in, damages, etc). my bigger question is why your family member and friends are concerned that they cant trust you or you cant trust them
