I have a faucet that will not budge. Box stores didn't know how to help. Plumbing store said to "unscrew the top" and that's not working. And I cant find a tool that will loosen it from the bottom. At this point I just want the thing out and forget reusing it again. Keeping the countertops, otherwise I'd toss the whole thing.

Try hair dryer on it first and then pliers. Someone used silicone caulk on it.

You can also try one of these universal tool.

You have to loosen it from the bottom. If you can't turn that thin ring with any wrench you have, put a screwdriver into that little notch there and twack it a half turn or so until it is loose. Once it gets loose, it should come off the rest of the way easily.

What you need is a basin wrench. The screwdriver idea posted above will likely work at less cost, though. On the up side, at least there doesn't appear to be any corrosion involved. Once you get the nut to spin loose, it should come right off. Gotta love the "gotta be different" faucet makers.

I agree with basin wrench. If you can get under there with a screwdriver and hammer, AND swing the hammer, that will work too.

Yup. Three things required for job: Flathead screwdriver, tap hammer and cussing.

Barking Spider- I love that handle. Not many people know the meaning!

I tried the basin wrench, there isn't enough of a lip to it for it to grab onto. Cussing and hitting it hasn't helped either...I tried. =< I'll try the screwdriver and mallet

You need what's called a "fixed basin wrench" for that size or !!!

An adjustable basin wrench with interchangeable jaws !!

Apparently you're not cussing right or loud enough!
