Hi, Bought new construction in Feb. In one of the bedrooms that is not used, we noticed a spot on the wall today. It looks like a wet spot but it doesn't feel wet or moist or spongy at all. We only go in this room about once a week so it could've been there for a couple days. It's on the top floor. No bathrooms or water sources anywhere near this room. Anyone have ways i could check what it is without cutting a hole in the drywall?

Thank you!

Get the builder to repaint the wall. Looks like a paint mismatch on a small hole that may have led to the TV cable outlet.

I'm pretty new to this so pardon my ignorance, but how did you come to that conclusion? We've been living in this house for 2 months now and the spot wasn't there until a couple days ago. Why would paint mismatch suddenly appear now?

Have you had a contractor in there recently? Maybe a contractor was leaning over, bumped his head on the wall and got greasy hair product on it.

I used to sit in class with kids who would lean their heads on the wall/chalkboard and make spots that looked just like that.

Just a thought.

I agree, my first thought was it looked like about the size of a head of greasy hair.

Edited to say: I also see child stuff in the room. Do you have children who can reach that height? Could have been greasy hands smeared around, although it's a little too perfectly oval for that.

If you bought the house that recently from a builder, it should still be under warranty. If you're worried about it being a leak of some kind, have the builder come check it out for free.

Agreed!

And I have to say that my builder has actually been more responsive to these warranty claims than they were during the build itself. At that point, I felt like their highest priority was to just get it done, and now I feel like they actually have customer satisfaction as priority. Hopefully you will have a similarly good experience!
