I am installing a rheem 9.5 gpm tankless water heater at my house in NY. The natural gas is 3/4 from the meter to the inside of my house. From there it is a foot run which gets reduced to 1/2 for an old 40 gallon water heater that i removed. Can I leave the 1/2 pipe and place a 3/4 bell reducer to 1/2 and run all my 3/4 pipe to my tankless water heater ?
If you tie the W/H run in at the meter outlet, the sizing/pressure drops/code compliance should take care of itself. You'll never regret doing it right the first time.
Will the meter accommodate the extra 160k demand? Not all do.
