Hoping this reaches some of the DIY crowd, do you have any opinions on construction techniques currently in use that you like?
Thanks in advance!

Construction techniques are more regionally driven, and for good reason.

SIPS is a great alternative to traditional framing where cold weather is a dominate factor. Just as concrete is a dominant factor in many parts of the world for several reasons- mainly weather related also. But for other areas its the most abundant material (think cost). Just as lumber is here in North America.

As you look at building materials around the world the two main driving forces are Weather and availability.

Is any "one" better than another? Sure. But is it a reasonable material to obtain for the intended use?

We just moved into our new SIP home abut a month ago and we love it so far. It has been so comfortable in here. With outside highs ranging from 55 to 94, the inside has remained very constant without putting any kind of strain on the HVAC.

Material costs were a bit higher, but we made up for it pretty much on labor costs and initial construction speed. With our Superior Wall foundation system, we went from digging the hole for the basement to completely enclosed (with shingles on the roof in about 6 weeks) and this included ALL insulation in place.

If you are interested, I can post links to the time lapse videos we did of the panel installations.
