We are looking at either a traditional keypad or the Amazon phone app. Anyone have reviews on either? Family of six, three teens coming and going, one elementary school child. Trying to decide what's best, safest, most fool proof.

Most fool proof? Keypad as it is connected to the garage opener hardwire. Anything to do with phone app, you may end up using wireless network. With that said, some newer model does both.

I would go keypad.

No they're not.
They are wireless (rf) just like the "clicker" in the car; the only difference is a 4 digit code to operate.

The phone app is good as long as you have a modem and router. Lose power, no workie! However, if you have a stand-by power opener and a key pad you still can get in- the phone app no workie!
