Persil 2 in 1 is great as are the other Persil products and works well in hard water. But it's expensive (affordable with coupons that are available from time to time).

Different sellers have different prices on Amazon.
Tide has a Tide with bleach HE, which is especially designed for high efficiency washers. We too have a water softener and for our HE washer it works great. Better than the standard with bleach.
Not a Proctor and Gamble fan but nothing works like Tide.
I thought so too until I tried Persil. But in fairness, some people complain that washing their clothes in Persil makes them smell musty or like someone hurled on them (haven't experienced this but maybe it's due to water composition in different areas).
Speaking of P&G, I read on the WSJ that the reason Walmart started carrying Persil was because they couldn't get a discounted price on Tide.

I so agree about Persil. I used Tide for many years and it works well -- but, on many set-in stains (especially blood), Persil gets them out totally and Tide doesnt even come close. I've used both the powder and the liquid Persil and never had a problem with smell -- and I have very hard water.
