Purchased this house almost 2 years ago.
Back Patio slider door needs a new latch, but I can't find the size. its twice the height of regular.
Door mechanism is up top and the lower part has lock
Home Depot and Amazon have nothing.
Anyone know what this is? Point me to a replacement?
Normally stuff like this will have a part number, if not also a company name, stamped into the metal on the Inside, where it's covered/hidden from view. Pull the handle-set from the door and look for identifying marks/info. At that point you could also walk it into a locksmith (not a big box store, not a hardware store*, a Locksmith) to have them either repair or help you find a replacement.
*some local/mom&pop hardware stores emlpoy a real locksmith.

thanks. I'll give it a look tonight.
But also leading towards a locksmith.
In 25 years of owning a home, I've never needed one!

The home we bought a couple of months ago has doors with very intricate latching and locking mechanisms and a couple of doors needed to be reset. DH, who is extremely handy on all DIY repairs, could not do it. Locksmith could not do it. The contractor we were working with on some repairs had to get a door and window specialist to come out and remove 2 doors and it took him hours to fix them.
I'm not saying you will have an issue this problematic, but don't be surprised if you do have to use a professional. Sometimes people make things unnecessarily complicated, kwim?
