I was having a basement bathroom updated, adding a tub and a utility sink, new vanity and toilet. Part of the basement had to be dug up and a section of pipe replaced. Then I had the drained snaked, they suggested I have the pipe relined so I had asked for a price, it came up to $150 per foot for 60 feet and $500 to replace the trap with sales tax it was over $11,000. I don't have this extra money they said if it breaks then the pipe would have to be replaced and dig up my lawn which I would not care about, my question is how much would it cost to replace 60 to 70 feet of pipe it would be in front of the house with easy access I thought the pipe lining would be less> Thank you in advance.

Need more info. What is the current pipe size, material, depth. All of these effect price.

I can tell you that $150/ft is VERY expensive pipe. That would be equivalent to something in the range of installing 48" pipe. This is assuming an open area (ie, not tearing up a basement).

If it is accessible for a backhoe/excavator you'd be looking at something a lot less to replace. Lining the pipe is a band-aid, and for 150 a foot that better last the next 200 years. I wouldn't recommend lining.

In my area current market price for installing 6" ductile iron pipe is $27/ft, installing 6" pvc C900 is $14/ft. C900 exceeds the specs for gravity drain systems but it is the fastest thing I could find and gives you a base point to work from. This includes backfill, operating, and material costs...
