We are in the process of upgrading the appliances in our kitchen in a recently purchased home. We have ordered a refrigerator, a freezer and 2 dishwashers. Those we are replacing due to capacity and performance issues.
However, the double oven and microwave work perfectly fine, and the only issues with them are the fact that they are black Maytag appliances, which we are not fans of. My husband found stainless steel trim packages manufactured by Maytag specific to the make and model of the oven, and just installed them last night. They look really good. The cost for all the trim (2 oven panels, 2 handles and a brand new control unit) was only $600 versus $3-5K for the new double ovens we priced out.
Has anyone else done this? It seems like a really cost effective way to alter the look of your kitchen if you don't like black or white appliances, but the units themselves function well.
Just want to mention Home Depot is having a big sale on all their wall ovens. A couple of them are almost half off. Wall ovens almost never go on sale so this is quite a deal.
