Have a fairly new garage door that was installed a few years ago. I had a large extension cord going under the door for most of the summer, powering a travel trailer. Now that I have removed the extension cord, the door doesn't go all the way to the ground. There is about an inch between rubber seal and the concrete.

I detached the door from the garage opener track (the little red pull handle) and it still doesn't go all the way down. Pretty sure the issue is in the two metal wires/pulley at the top ends of the tracks/bar. Ruled out my garage opener, I think.

Anyone know what my issue is? Can I fix myself? Really trying to avoid a $100+ service call for something that has to be very simple...

Thanks!

Are you saying the door actually binds or stops when it should logically go all the way down? The torsion spring and pulleys don't have any stops incorporated in them. I'm guessing you tried to apply a reasonable amount of force to get it to close fully...

It just stops, like the pully won't let it go down anymore, the metal wire is tight. I've tugged it on a lot, just doesn't go down another inch.

OK-check your manual lock/latch which is on the side of the door - you use it to manually lock the door door if need be. There is a bar that slides out of that into a slot in the track when engaged. Check and see if that bar is partly engaged in the track. Make sure that you fully disengage that slide bar back into its housing- it will be obvious to you if you have not tried that already. I suppose its possible due to the alignment of the track that bar could be hitting the track

Figured it out! One of the very top rollers was binding on the track. I loosened the bolts and got it to sit in correctly and tightened the bolts back down. Seems to be working great now.

Thanks!
