I dropped a plastic bag onto my hot stove top , I was able to remove the bag fast enough but the plastic stuck to it , what would be the best way to get the rest of the cooled down remaining plastic off ? Thank you .

I'd probably burn it off. it'll stink.. But that's about the only way to get it all off.

I presume we're talking about on the burner?

You could remove the burner and wash it in the sink and scrub it as best you can, then hook it back up and let whatever is left burn off.

Element burners can be replaced, if necessary.

Glass top, whole different problem.

If you are very careful, you can scrape it off with a small razor scraper like the one below:
Scraper Knife in Stock - ULINE

But if you have one of the blades around the house, you don't need to buy a scraper. Make sure that the stove top os cold or at least cool to the touch, and turn the blade so the edge is flat against the glass (somewhere around 12 degrees or so angle. You want the edge to slide between the glass and the plastic without scratching the glass. After you have scraped the plastic off, clean the stovetop with a ceramic glass cleaner such as "Weiman Glass Cook Top" cleaner and polisher.

Razor blade. Just make sure you don't scratch the surface.
I have this from Lowes:
Shop Task Force Razor Blade Scraper at Lowes.com
very handy to clean little burns.

Goo Gone and a wallpaper scraper such as this: QEP 4 in. Wide Razor Scraper and Stripper-62900Q - The Home Depot

It doesn't have to be that brand, you can find them at any hardware store.

They were originally designed to scrape wallpaper off walls without damaging the surface. It's easy to hold it at the proper angle. They are handy for a lot of things so you will probably be happy you bought it. I've kept one with my tools for many years.
