Mine are still up, it's Jan 8th. Most of our neighbors still have their outdoor lights up but I have seen a couple of Xmas trees out for trash pickup this week. I will be taking my indoor decorations and tree down this weekend and will shut off my outdoor lights. The outdoor lights will physically come down when my husband gets around to it.
i noticed alot of people in my neighborhood along with xmas lights also lit up their houses with spot lights. why is that not a thing year round. the lights have to go but alot of homes look very nice at night with a spotlight on them. also, there are zero lights in my development so its nice to cut the blackness of the night with

During Xmastime we unplug our spotlights, but during the remaining 11 months of the year we have them. We are one of the few on our block that do, and ours are brighter than the others (which are really more like accent lighting). When we have new people come to our house, we just say, "Look for the house that is lit up," and they always find us.
We keep our lights and tree up at least until "Russian Christmas" (also known as Epiphany or Three Kings Day) which is January 6. Since that is a weekday, our decorations and tree will be coming down this Sunday (Jan. 10).
We are Catholic and we're quite aware that the Christmas Season extends until Epiphany! The time between December 26 (the feast day of St. Stephen) and January 6 is also known as "The Twelve Days of Christmas".
Snow was in the forecast so I took advantage of a nice day and took down the lighted snowflake from the outside of the house, my only outdoor lights. One year we had so much snow I had to leave the lighted reindeer frolicking in it until February.
I'll bet that was lovely!
