There are many threads here about Air conditioner brands...
Carrier announced they are moving an Indiana plant to Mexico, laying off 1400 US workers.
How do 1400 workers in the same area all find new jobs?
Welcome to the future under the TPP... I saw a rumor that Ford was gearing up to do the same thing.
Is this a sarcastic comment? NAFTA has been around for what 20 years? This has nothing to do with the TPP. In theory, the TPP should have kept assembly in the US if Carrier sourced parts from cheaper Asian countries and just assembled in Indiana.
The questions are: what are Carrier's competitors doing? Where are they making their products? How much would Carrier save in Mexico? Is the savings from non-Union labor, lower environmental requirements, both? Would Carrier be able to keep their prices higher with a huge "Made in America" campaign?
So what does this have to do with this forum? Sounds like it should be in the politics forum, economics forum, employment forum. Why is it here in the house forum?

Carrier has been in Mexico for some time.
We are an HVACR company, and we no longer do business with Carrier because of this.
Former moderator. Tell me what this has to do with this forum?
I shouldn't even have to answer this. Google is your friend.
Carrier is a manufacturer of residential HVAC systems. You know, something that many homeowners use in their houses to heat in winter and cool in summer.
Why are you so eager to push an important topic (to some) into a section that may not likely be seen?
For real.
This is the best place for this topic so other homeowners have a chance to make a decision on such an expensive piece of equipment, to keep their money here in America.
