Hi - I am thinking of putting wood in some areas of the house which is next to the tiled area. As I have not done previously anything like this would like to know some views on this.

1) Can I transition a light colored tile (light brown with some patterns of white and gold) into a dark colored (more chestnut color) wood ?
2) Does the transition need some smoothing out to be done to not look like a sudden change ? ( i have seen some people put glass tile as a transition)
3) Does anyone have pics of their homes that they can share ? I have attached a couple of what I am talking about.

We have a t moulding between the two floor coverings since there is a bit of a height difference.

Mine has a transition piece at the tile to allow for some movement in the wood. Wood expands along the grain so if you are installing it like either picture where the grain is running into the tile you need to put in a transition piece. That 2nd picture actually looks like it is tile not wood.

Actually, wood is very stable along the grain, with negligible movement. Movement across the grain is much more of a concern. The flooring in the 2nd picture, running diagonally, would need to allow for some small amount of expansion and contraction. In either case, a piece of T-molding would work.
