It's a little more demanding than it sounds given the tight working quarters above the ceiling in the laundry room and certainly beyond my pay grade as an arthritic geezer.
But do you think that this single job would be rejected by a handyman as being too menial? If so, who would you contact to perform the task?

I just replaced my parents vent, and it can be difficult given tight spaces. Some of the designs are very demanding. Don't put the vinyl ones in anymore, but use only aluminum. I found about a pound of lint. Lint is extremely flammable and the vinyl will go up as well.
Some people object to venting expensive heat in winter, so they divert the heat back into the house. That may be a problem in summer, but if your dryer is downstairs it may be a tolerable issue. Like your lint catcher, clean your exhaust system. I've created a line fire, and it isn't pretty.
