So, I thought I would ask, what is the best granite cleaner that you have used?
Right now I use Bayes high performance, but I'm not crazy about it, anything better out there??

Thanks in advance

Is it sealed? Do you seal it annually?

If so, a regular multi-surface cleaner is all you need- hint, hint.

I'm assuming it was sealed with the builder 7 yrs ago. I'm trying to do an upkeep to preserve

I have a dark granite ( I think the name is Sapphire blue. funny that I can't remember the right name after I spent so long agonizing over the choice about 8 years ago) .
It was sealed when installed. About a year later I used a sealant which I still have. I believe I used it only that once. It seems to be totally fine. I think about reapplying it, and it really didn't take much time or effort but honestly I dont think it needs it .
Maybe the fact that it's dark and very varied in color helps that.
I pretty much only use the non ammonia Windex on it and do that pretty much all the time. LOL.
I just checked and what I do have is AQUA MIX Sealer's Choice - Professional. It's in a plastic jug, 16 oz and still has the price tag of $25 on it. I must have about 2/3 left. I guess it works great~

I clean it with hot water.
I do not need to seal it.

I love Daily Granite, a Method product. Smells like apples and leaves the counters looking great.

Sealing is recommended for two reasons. Helps with obvious protection against staining - more critical for light colors. The other is radon. It's a rock, basically, after all. It will emit radon gas, while probably small amounts... As for cleaning - nothing that will scratch and avoid bleach.

My wife tore her hair out looking for something that would clean without streaks or film. She landed on the stuff from SprayAway and it worked Very well (we have a solid black slab, it shows everything), but it's not easy to find so she started experimenting with DIY/homemade stuff. I have no idea what her formula is, but it works 90% as good as the Sprayaway (and better than everything else we tried).

Hot water, multi-surface, vinegar, window cleaner, etc... all were tried as we have those on hand and would prefer NOT to buy another product or have yet Another bottle of cleaner. Unfortunately none of them met the standards of my wife (a clean freak). The good thing about the DIY is that there's never a hesitation to use it because it's cheaper than anything you can buy and nearly impossible to "run out"... she also scents it differently for the different moods/seasons, which is nice.

Unless you are thoroughly sealing ALL surfaces (even the edges), the radon will continue to emit.

How often is re-sealing recommended? Is there a DIY option?
