Any recommendations for a do-it-yourself driveway sealant or coating?
Previously used Latexite Dress Up which was mainly a black paint on a previous driveway. Don't think they make this product anymore. At a home now with a driveway that I plan to use some crack filler on first as there are some 1/4-1/2" cracks.
Don't want a lot of build so would appreciate feedback on which product would work best; "airport grade" "ultra maxx" " ultra shield" "optimum" "acrylic plus," etc.
I'll assume you're referring to an asphalt drive(?)
Hot pours for cracks are really the best, but kinda hard to do for the typical H/O. Sealers are a dime-a-dozen. It's probably better to buy the "best warranty" you can find-vs-latex, acrylic, oil, etc.; depending on if it's been coated before. Some sealers tend to not "play well" with others.
In general, you get what you pay for with driveway sealers. Look into Henry Company - they are considered far superior to anything you can buy in a big box store.
Hot pours? Is it best to use sand when available and then pour liquid on top?

Is it better to fill as many and all cracks as you can by hand before applying the sealant over top of cross the entire driveway?

Any suggestions on best method for filling cracks?
Clearly, the best method is something that will not only fill the gap, but will also seal it from further damage. When I read the responses about using sand I just laughed. Sand is far from being permenent- it can easily be washed away if any part of the crack is not completely sealed, and it can also hold water. Which will lead to a bigger crack when it freezes.

Not only does it fill the gap, it also seals- it's probably the next best thing to a hot pour as I mentioned earlier.
