The others look like lag bolts. Anything would work, as long as you don't over tighten it. That appears to be the pivot point for the latch. I'd use a slightly undersized lag with a washer.
The screw from the latch on my fence gate fell out and got lost (probably sucked up by the lawn mower). Any idea what size screw the hole would take?
Remove the entire latch and take it with you as you drive to ACE hardware store. They will see just exactly what size and type you need to make it work again. They will only charge you for ONE screw or bolt without having to buy an entire box full of them like at the big box hardware stores. Should be less than a dollar for it and a little of your time to remove and reinstall it when you get back home.
Looking closely at the pic, you're not going to "repair" with just a "screw". The latch is attached with a shouldered bolt that screws into the body creating the pivot for the latch-
Unfortunately, it would appear from the pic that the threads are completely gone. A replacement latch is about $10. See where I'm going...?
This was a rivet between the latch and the latch plate, not a bolt: you can put a small bolt in its place ,but, you would have to make a space in the gate post to accommodate the bolt, washer, and nut...it would also need a lock washer or something as it may tend to loosen over time.
