Our home is 1680 sq ft. Tri level. I keep the
Temp in the summer at 74. My bill went from $89.00 in May (Gas and Electric) to 172.00 in June. Yes I had a fit . I did find that the compressor unit needed cleaning. I also changed the air filter and it
Is really hot now in the Midwest so I know this coming bill will be high as well.

1490 sq ft, 77* day and night 82.00 a month. R30 up top and R19 in the walls. It'll go down some once I switch to LED and insulate the top of the garage, have a mini split in there.

Live in the desert SW USA where we have had at least 27 days over 100. June bill was $205. July will probably be higher. Have two HVAC units, 3 ton and 4 ton. Keep the temp. at 78 as wife has chronic health problem that needs it at least to 78. If it were me, I would not turn it on till about 82 or so as I go around the house and in only gym shorts, no shirt. Rates are high here and but do not want the investment of solar; especially after they proposed charging higher rate for solar users to make up difference they are NOT paying. UGH.

I'm a regular person in a regular "all electric" house in Florida . It's about 2900 sf under A/C. Single story with 10 foot ceilings. We keep the A/C at 76 (which we find comfortable). Our electric bill during the "hot months" - July/August/September runs about $400/month. Cheapest bills are in the spring and fall (about $250-300/month). Winter is variable depending on how much cold weather we have (we're in NE Florida and keep the heat at 71). Usually runs about $300-350/month. Overall cost of electric last year was $4200.

FWIW - I don't have a clue what a "plastic house" is (ours is CBS - concrete block stucco). Robyn

LOL I know what you mean. The only plastic houses I've seen are Fisher Price doll houses.

Here in Texas you can choose your electric provider. We negotiated a lower rate and our electric bills dropped by at least $100 a month in the hotter months. We actually only have about four months of bills over $150.
