generally accepted standards are for 3 cm for granite kitchen counter tops and 2 cm for granite vanity tops (although in a lot of homes I have been in they are typically ALL 3 cm). We do have some quartz counter tops in our house that are 2 cm, though.
3 cm is standard. And I just had granite installed, all the granite that I looked at does NOT need to be sealed. I think that is pretty standard now for Granite.
3cm would be considered "standard". 2cm is considered an "economy" version.
A lot of fabricators do seal granite as either a "bonus" or an upcharge. Granite should be resealed annually. It's a simple matter of wipe-on, wipe-off.

My granite has a 15 year no seal guarantee. Actually all of the different granites that I looked at from all of the different fabricators have the same guarantee. Only the contractor grade stuff that I saw needed to be sealed annually.
I am new at forums, so I don't know if I am doing this correctly. Thank you all for your responses. I am realizing there is so much I didn't know, that I didn't know.

Sorry you fell for the overpriced gimmick.
I didn't know Mother Nature made granite in "contractor grade".
