I know you can't put metal in a microwave but those handy bags from fast food to keep your food warm....is that really metal the light painted foil on the bags to keep the food hot before you get home?

Is it safe to put in microwave not looking for a JackAss moment

No food completely covered by aluminum foil or in a covered metal pan should be put in a microwave oven because food wouldn't be available to absorb the microwaves. Operating the oven empty or when the food is completely wrapped in aluminum foil can cause damage to the oven and the food won't heat...https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q...icrowave+ovens

If you are talking about the foil bags, nah, you don't want to put them in. There are greyish paper pads and sleeves, like hot pockets have, that can be used in a microwave. Skip down to a dollar store and pick up a couple cheap microwave plasticware containers for heating. Place the food in and maybe a few drops of water and you should be fine.

No the only ones you can put in the microwave are the ones specifically made for it like some single serve french fry boxes that have that shiny coating that is supposed to crisp them. I think some microwave pizzas have them too.

Never put regular foil in the microwave. One time many years ago I was working in a large office and a girl in the break room tried to put a cup of soup that comes in the styrofoam cup in the microwave. The problem was that it had some foil on the lid. You were supposed to fill it with boiling water and close it. When she started the microwave the lid sparked and burst into flames, she was the first one out the door. Someone else opened the microwave door and the air put it out. Now they make those soup cups with paper lids so people won't be stupid.

Look if there is anything printed on them, like "Microwave safe" or so.

I can't imagine a cup of soup large enough or strong enough to function as a microwave safe...

Just an example. I forgot a twister tie one time...the paper kind that has wire inside. Even though closing a rather large bag of veggies, it sparked.

Styrofoam melts when it gets hot. Melts right into the food you want to eat. Plastic is also not recommended for microwaves.
