Ok so I have a 21 year old HVAC on my roof, it seems to drip directly from the unit not just into the condensation tube, I am noticing yellowish stains on my roof, the roof feels the same as it does everywhere else, just discolored, is this normal? Or should I call an HVAC guy. Photo attached.
Bonus question: the other hvac condensation pipe from in the attic runs to the front of my house, I notice it is dripping a lot more than the past few years, could these be related?
I'd say the discoloration is from the frame rusting.
Then again, you could possibly have a rusted out condensation pan for the "A"coil- allowing water to run wherever- instead of down the condensate pipe.
Return air problems are likely if the drain is working. Return grill needs to be large enough...which has been a constant or pleated or dirty filters will back the condensate flow.
So is this an easy DIY if it's just changing the condensation pan?
No.
This is not a "DIY" project.
