Depends on your priorities. To me that was one big plus of getting out of an apartment - not having to scrape frost or clear snow off my car all winter. Here, most everyone has a two car, sometimes a three. Only the oldest homes might have a one car detached garage.
I have and probably will again. While I prefer a garage, it's simply not always an option. There are vast swaths of this country where homes aren't built with them and there's no room to add one.
I grew up scraping windows and dealing with snow in Wyoming (no garage for any of the homes in my area of town), it's just not a big deal.
Given that the few garages I see here in rural Georgia are packed full of junk, it's obviously not a very big priority for people around here.
No off-street parking (driveway)? That's pushing my limits. I've looked at homes that were without parking, but I don't think I could do it.
No garage, attached or detached, or even a driveway?
I pass quite a few homes that only have on-street parking. Some are upscale homes. No garage, carport or driveway.
I like to be able to keep my cars clean and safe. I usually leave my purse and some other items in my car overnight.
I would hate to have to scrape ice off my windshield in the winter, or dig my car out of the snow.
Besides, it is just convenient, and in my opinion safer, to be able to pull in the garage and shut the door behind you.
Are you sure this is the case? It is not unusual to see neighborhoods here built in the "new urbanist" style (kind of a throwback look to some older, urban homes). Garages behind the house opening to an alley.
Yes, I would buy a home without a garage or driveway.
You probably should stop leaving your handbag in your car overnight.
