Look on top of your cabinets. We keep an explosive gas detector up there in case there is a gas leak. They could have had something similar on top of theirs and forgotten to take it with them when they left.
Many refrigerators have a built in detector if one of the doors is not fully shut, to warn you to open and close again the refrigerator door or drawer. If we don't properly close our refrigerator we get this low intermittent beep. To stop it beeping, we just open and close the doors and drawer solidly and it stops beeping.
Two things. Is the alarm hard wired into the electrical panel? I read that he cut a wire and the panel is dead. Make sure he cut all the wires. Did you remove the battery from the detector? I had one that I pulled the battery, and the darn thing kept tweeting, I put it in a bucket of water and soaked it for an hour and it still tweeted, I finally got a sledge and smashed it to smithereens. Still don't understand how it still worked, but, DH was a witness.
Can't help laughing when I read your post! But I know the pain! If I know the beep is from the panel I will smash it as well.
I think DH cut the output wire and all the lights went off. I just checked the backup battery and pulled the wires that connect to it.... hope this is it.....

:rolleyes great idea except our cabinets are built to the ceiling.
Thanks though
I know you said you checked appliances, but does your refrigerator have a thru-the-door water dispenser with a filter that might need to be changed? I think they mostly have lights to i dicate that, but maybe one could have an audible indicator.
It does have a filter! We don't drink from there. I will need to figure out how to disable it.
Two other things to check: Since you have a second and third floor; have you checked your clothes closets on the second floor? Like the previous poster pointed out; sometimes people will put old smoke detectors in boxes with the batteries still in.
One other possible place to check; outside. What is on the wall right outside your kitchen? Take a good look for anything that might contain a battery.
There's some outdoor lights, which we couldn't figure out how to use. They have a timed transformer in the garage which has been disconnected from the outlet.
Further out is the gardern of the neighbor, it is very close. Like a hallway distant. Maybe he put something there? I will grab a chair and sit there when the sun comes out.
Make an appointment with your Programming Center. It sounds like your Razzmatazz Gizmodo Kadoodlehopper might be malfunctioning. It can be replaced through your ear canal.

I just take a look at the filter. There's no light indicating anything there, just the dispenser and the filter. Not sure if it would beep.
