Wouldn't most any picture just fall behind the bed? Our bed is about 5 inches from the wall.

If I do, it will be very light and have no glass or metal in the frame/picture-holder.

i have a large painting over our bed. Is quite lovely, and I based the colors of room on the colors in that painting.

I don't like having stuff like that over my head while I am sleeping.

My art is across from my bed.

I have a Peter Max hanging above my bed and it's my favorite piece of art. It's his "Friends Century Ladies" print, is signed, and was given to my mother.

I don't have artwork over my bed. I once lived in an area known for its earthquakes, and even though I don't live there any more I'd be worried about quakes and my artwork falling on me as I slept. Not that that makes much sense, but that is my explanation.

I do have a smaller print over each of my two bedside tables. I like that look.

I shudder at some peoples taste in art...

I had two very large paintings over my bed in the last house, which did not move at all during an Earthquake. The Earthquake did crack the foundation of the house and caused a 1" gap in the corner of the wall, which was only 5' from the hanging pictures.

I need to sell them now. My new house does not have tall cathedral ceilings so I need to find something smaller.
