Does anyone own this brand? I am thinking about getting a new gas cooktop to replace my 14 yr old Maytag instead of repairing it. Three of the burners won't come on with no clicking sound. It only comes on when i light a match next to it. I was thinking about getting a new stainless steel Metawell 30" gas cooktop online. I checked on Google and it is made in Germany, but no real reviews on it. Let me know if you own one. If so, how has it been working for you? Thanks.

If you're in the US... buy a US brand.

Have the Maytag serviced (read: cleaned; maybe replace a part or two LINK)
and it'll be good for another 14 years.
Metawell is a sub-discount brand made in China, and distributed worldwide by fly-by-night retailers. I had the misfortune to buy one online, and haven't been able to return it.
Instructions are minimal, in broken English. Customer service is non-existant. The gas connection is not standard US type, requires an entrance in the wall, and it's not clear whether it needs an external regulator or not.
If you are on a tight budget, I agree about having your unit serviced and cleaned. This would be cheaper than buying new. You can ask the service guy about its possible longevity. Many times these guys know stuff. Ask him.
If you choose to replace, buy from a local, established retailer or big box store.
One thing you can do, after having your cooktop cleaned, is to buy a good portable induction burner. A good one that can boil water fast, would be a useful addition to your gas cooktop.
