Or when visiting someone knocked on the wrong door

When I was in school , my mate walked with me and he knocked on a door which he thought was my house which was actually 4 doors away from where I lived , the woman had to send him to the right address

When my step-daughter moved into a new place, Hubby & I went to visit. We weren't too sure where the house was. I don't know if we knocked on the house thinking it was the right house or if we knocked to get directions. The woman who answered was very nice and she knew my step-daughter & her hubby, but I don't think she knew where they lived because they had just moved. We were 2 houses away.

One time after getting a new car, Hubby went into a convenient store, came out and got back in the car. While he was in the car, he looked around and realized that he was in the wrong car. All the cars looked alike and yeah, no one locks their doors around here.

Oh that's funny!

What clued you in? For me, it would be not recognizing the clutter on the passenger floor.

I have thrown something a distance of about 3 feet, into the wrong shopping cart. The shopping cart's owner seemed quite annoyed/startled (?) and it was embarrassing retrieving the item while awkwardly trying to explain, after "Sorry" elicited stone cold silence.
