Far too many people simply decide to view good HVAC&R techs as marginally trained monkeys with a toolbag, only there to upsell and gouge them on price, and not understanding that doing it right often takes time and money.
One of the reasons I got out of the HVAC&R trade after 12 years in. I do not have the right personality to deal with that attitude.

I'm in California and the state decided that they're going to make energy conservation advocates out of us. All the regs did was drive all the work to the moonlighters. I'm getting out of the trade and getting into stainless steel fabrication for the marine industry...no regulations and nobody thinking the work is unskilled.
Yeah, even on my worst day I look better than a lot of guys on their best day. What you see as a problem, I see as an opportunity.
