We are on a septic system and the leach field is in the yard right next to the pole barn that you see in the view that shows the barns length. Where and how could you run a septic line for the bathroom? The convenient place would be right out that side but I don't think you can connect directly to a leach field without first going through a septic tank. Any plumbers knowledgeable on this subject out there?

You absolutely would need to tie in to the septic tank, not directly to the drain field. The septic tank separates out the solids and paper, and only allows the water to enter the drain field.
So your distance to hook up is from the building, to wherever your septic tank is.
