I used to own a Dyson Ball that is over 8 years old, but recently bought a new Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away NV682. I bought it from Bed Bath and Beyond for the 20% coupon, so the model number may be slightly different. It's powerful, the attachments are easy, and "grooms" the carpet well.

The Shark NV752 is probably the most powerful one, but also the most expensive.
