I wouldn't do that, even if I were a millionaire. Why throw a good pot away, when I can clean it?

How I have rescued a pot like this is to boil water in the pot with dishwasher detergent in it. Run the exhaust fan! After that you might well have to scour with a SOS or Brillo pad.

Put boiling water and dawn in it. Let it soak, every now and then change the water and dawn. After a week or two scrub it out with a scrunge. If that does not work - bead blaster will take it out.

Glad it's been resolved.

If you don't go with an air popper, just dedicate an older pan for popcorn. I haven't made popcorn in ages - it's a weakness for me so I don't keep it in the house, but when I did I had one specific pan for it. An air popper just doesn't cut it compared to popped in oil (and melted butter) - hence why I don't keep it in the house.
