I am looking to have a fireplace built. Does every non-vented propane fireplace give of some sort of propane smell? I don't like any smell of propane. I am also skeptical about these because they are not vented even though I understand, if properly installed, they are safe. I don't really have any other affordable options aside from electric since the fireplace will be installed on an inside wall. I prefer something that looks real and gives off heat.
I have a non-vented propane wall heater, which has minimal smell. Unvented gas logs are much more prone to incomplete combustion and the trace smell. In short, while I have the heater, I wouldn't want the logs in an UNvented fireplace.
Yep- the usual culprit for smell/odor of f/pl’s is usually the “gas logs”. The material and paint that make the logs tends to “burn off”.
If you don’t want the odors- use fire glass.
