I think some of its likely for FHA or VA financing...And when the state is underwriting the loan, the state can nanny a bit lol...

We only showered until we moved here. It's colder and snows so soaking in a warm bathtub just seems inviting now

Aw, geez, we could have marketed the utility sink in our previous house’s garage as a quarter-bath. Dayummm.

To me, it isn’t a bathroom without a toilet!

Many a morning the 1/4 bath has been enough for me.

I grew up in a large family in a house that had a bathtub, but no shower. There was one bathroom. We couldn't take a bath in the morning, or the hot water would run out, so you had like 5 minutes in the bathroom with a wash towel. If in there longer, someone would be banging on the door. The house never did have a shower installed. It is great to have both a shower and a bathtub. If I had to pick, would go with the shower.

^^^this is one of the reasons we redid the guest bathroom with just a big shower stall, long as the bathtub was. Easy in and out if we need to put in a shower chair or a wheelchair, etc.

Shower only. Too old to fool with tub. Tub too difficult to clean.

We have just a walk-in shower in the master bathroom and a standard bathtub with shower in the hall bathroom. No one uses the actual tub (other than to take a shower in). We did bathe the dog in it a couple times, but if you don't have young children and you don't like to take baths, it's probably not worth keeping. Resale is a consideration, of course.
