Today I saw a Deebot advertised on TV. I had never heard of the brand before, but it is abought half what the Roomba sells for.
Despite the little voice in my head, saying “you get what you pay for”, I ordered one.

Has anyone had a Deebot?

So far I think it's just you.

Write again to tell us all about it.

Perhaps not-

Just another Chinese company that does knockoffs of any product that has a wide consumer following- getting a "piece-of-the-pie" wherever it might be.

The one I ordered (the M82) looks nothing like that one, so hopefully it’s better.

no telling what technology they sneak into those robots. If you wake up in the middle of the night to see your vac in the kitchen talking to your microwave and refrigerator, don't say you weren't warned.

I'd be highly suspect of the durability of it and the warranty. On one hand, every iRobot product I've had has had some sort of failure. Over a decade ago, their warranty policy was terrible. Their policy used to simply be to deny any claim. In my opinion, they've gotten a lot better about it.

So for 50% off it might fail due to a lesser battery or a poorly made servo in a few months.

My latest Roomba (knock-on-wood) is used pretty much daily and has been running very well for 3.5 years.

My general rule of thumb? Buy nothing directly from a Chinese company.

Yes, China makes most of the world's electronics, as nearly as I can tell. But when a Chinese company makes those electronics for a Japanese/American/European company, they have to actually meet quality standards.

Like dspguy said, the Roombas have plenty of problems too. I’ll just have to see how the Deebot does, and hope for the best. At least I’m in it for under $200. instead of $600.

It’s kind of like the Dyson vs Shark thing. A lot of people prefer the Shark for a lot less money.

Anyway, I’ll report back.

I have not heard of it but am very curious to hear back from you after you have it a bit.
I say it's a little risk ($) so why not.
I am just going to add that if you paid by Credit Card, you have minimized your risk. At least if you don't receive it, and then depending on which card some have an additional warranty.

We're happy with our Shark Ion Robot 750. Saved a few hundred bucks from choosing the overhyped Roomba brand. We have lots of pet hair and it does the job nicely.
