Two things. An upright cordless vacuum where the battery comes out to get charged separately, so I don't have to store the whole thing on an outlet (as you do for a dustbuster-type) AND a king size latex mattress from "Sleep on Latex." It's always such a drama to get a new mattress and we wanted to upgrade to a king, we were nervous that we would not be able to reproduce the comfort from our old queen latex mattress that had been discontinued by the manufacturer.

And to echo a pp, everything these days is so depressingly disposable I have started buying vintage instead. Love my 30$ eBay Osterizer blender that I ended up with instead of shelling out $$$ for a VitaMix. Saving things from the landfill and not worrying about reliability as their reliability has been proven.

A home theater with a big screen. It's been a lot of fun.

LED lighting fixtures. Not only do they save energy, but the time between failure is much longer than CFL bulbs. No more stocking light bulbs, or having one or two burned bulbs until I get to the store.

I also picked up an electronic deadbolt for my front door. In my case it is the Schlage Z-Wave, but brand doesn’t matter too much. I never have to carry a house key anymore, and I can give my neighbor an access code to bring in the mail when I am on vacation.

I don’t bother with the internet connectivity bit, that seems like too much bother.

We've been working on installing Rev-A-Shelf slide outs in our lower cabinets, basically one a week. Just finishing putting the third in about 20 minutes ago. We tried the first just before Christmas and my wife liked it so well she asked me to put them in all her cabinets. With just the first three in and three to go, we've already been able to clear some clutter and better store and organize a lot. Will just about double the usable capacity of our cabinets when done.

A new dish brush. It's the little things. I just restored two rusty old cast iron frypans, and a stiff brush works so well in scrubbing them clean. Best $3 I spent this week.

On to the big stuff ... Dyson Animal. That sucker is no match for my two cats.

I just bought a new Whirlpool stove and am waiting for it to be delivered (after the electrician puts a new 50A breaker in the electrical panel ... *sigh*). I opted for coil burners instead of a glass stop stove. It's black and not stainless steel. And I'm sure I'll love it!

Next up ... a new laptop and a new electric teakettle. And I just bought a new (to me - 2015) car. Happy New Year to me! LOL

We went solar at our Mexican home! 8 panels with installation was equivalent 5K USD. Electric bills had been running equiv. 150 USD a month so payback is under 3 years. Company had recommended 6 panels but we went with 8 as we expect to add a hottub.

I do not have the house yet. I bought messages that are meaningful to me. It is on wood.

I got an inexpensive little Bella blender for making single serving smoothies. Works better than any blender I've ever had!
