a google home hub. it's great being able to control things with your voice. as well as you can ask it just about anything and it will give you and answer and set reminders for you and even send driving directions to your smart phone.
A quiet dishwasher. It’s heaven. Couldn’t believe it was working when we turned it on.
Yes! when we replaced our decently functioning but older dishwasher in our last house we too could not believe the difference.
In our new house we have a REALLY old dishwasher (which still works pretty well. surprisingly. well I guess not, It's about 20 plus years old - not used a lot apparently, and this was made when they made stuff to LAST). It is noisy beyond belief. We use it maybe every other week or so and of course it's slated to be replaced.
I know that anything at 50 and below decibels is going to be heavenly quiet.
There’s a place called United Pillow Mfg. online. I was able to buy custom fillers for the back cushions of my patio furniture for about $100. for 4 big cushions, including shipping.
When we took in our patio furniture in, before hurricane Dorian, I took the opportunity to wash the covers on the patio furniture. The fiberfill inserts had broken down and deteriorated something awful. Clouds of what looked like dandruff came out of them. The cushions are not standard sizes, so it’s not as if I could just go to a Home Goods and buy new.
Super happy to have renewed my cushions for such a reasonable price.
Aren’t they great? A quiet dishwasher was never on my radar, not a thing I thought about. But ours broke and when I saw that our old one was labeled at 68 decibels I was floored. Got a 50 and it’s heaven!
I used this again today. It is so functional and useful. I can dump prunings and weeds into this cart and roll it into the garage where the large, heavy lawn waste container is. It is slightly tricky to dump it, but so far this old woman has not had too much trouble. Before, I had to wrangle and push the big container out the side door of the garage, and into the back yard. And while I’m at it I’ll mention that we bought a solid Rubbermaid bucket. This is another worksaver in the yard. It replaces a cheap pail that sprang a leak after one year.
These aren’t glamor purchases, but the are quite useful.
I bought a couple of Adirondack chairs (in lime) in composite (basically, recycled plastic) for my yard. I waited all Summer and finally ordered them. They add just the right thing to my backyard. Now, I need a fire pit or something.

Call me weird, but i actually enjoy the sound of the dishwasher. My mind sees it as satisfying like "ok, everything's cleaned up, dishes are loaded and being washed.. time to relax"
