I have extra wires at the thermostat, however the original did not use a c-wire.

I got into the attic and removed the panel, but all I found were TWO bundles of wires that were had a bunch of wire-nuts on them.

I don't see a control board...Where could it be? Anybody more familiar here?

Probably wherever those heavy red wires are coming from (above?). BTW replace your filter.

You may not have one if the furnace is as old as it looks.

Take some new pics.
1) from 3 feet away
2) right on top of the rating plate (model # etc)
3) about in front of the section those wires go into.
---

In any case... the C wire bt is the 'common' wire off the 120Vx24V transformer
On newer equipment that's on a board. On old equipment it could be anywhere.

Not a filter...just soundproofing I believe.

It is an Aire-Flo Heat Pump system from 2003. What do you think? Too old for a board?

Certainly not too old for a control board. Mine is a York Diamond from 2000, both had the board. Just have to follow the red wires. Also, did you google for the answer as well?

The C wire is likely a screw-on terminal port on the control board. I installed two Ecobee 3's about 2 years ago, each needing the C wire. The house was wired with extra connector wire in the bundle. All I had to do was find the C wire port on the board. Ecobee's website has some helpful info on how to do this as well. It is pretty simple. Just follow those red wires that are connecting up to what are clearly the thermostat wires running through the house.

That is a mess, whoever put it in did a really crummy job.

Sorry, I have no idea about the C-wire.

I can tolerate slop on other things............wiring should NEVER be sloppy.
