I'm not sure if this link works but if you google "cool homemade fountains" there are some great ideas! I've always wanted to do something cool like this. Actually we have a great granite cliff in our yard that we'd love to build a fountain on. Wish we were more motivated!!

You can order all types of pumps and fountains off the internet. I have a backyard pond with a mini waterfall we built ourselves. I've ordered from DrFosterSmith before and was happy with the purchase. Bought pond plants too, though you probably wouldn't have those in a small basin fountain.

If the surface of the water is agitated enough, mosquito larva will not be such a big problem. You could get a few feeder goldfish cheap to take care of them too. Not with chlorine, of course.
