In our house, we have switched from air spray to matches to deodorize after completing our bodily functions. Or bedrooms when bodily sulfur emerges? Our "children" are now 20 and almost 22 so it became possibly.
Matches?? For fart lighting ? (Human farts are ignitable since they contain gases like Methane and Hydrogen Sulphide. These are the main components of fart that are flammable.)
Matches give off an awful sulfur smell. I don't consider that an improvement.
Sprays or other artificial scents cause my nose and sinuses to become congested... sometimes I sneeze.
Open a window or turn on the exhaust fan. Close the door when you are done.
I don't care for any kind of artificial scents full of harmful chemicals. Why would I want to breath that?
They only mask the smell, and sometimes a mix of both of them could be even worse.
An exhaust fan or open window should take care of it.
You can also reduce odors by flushing the toilet as soon as you can, before you finish your business. The quicker the flush, the less the odor. A "courtesy flush" is not only courteous, it's smart.

If you have an exhaust fan and a bathroom located away from the center of the house, it seems you don't necessarily need to get rid of bathroom odors. I haven't seen matches in a bathroom since I was a child in my grandmother's home.
BUT. If you are in a home where the guest powder room is right off the living room, and guests are over, you can put a spray bottle of poo pourri on the shelf for them to use. You spray it onto the surface of the toilet before you use it, and from what I understand (on good authority) it conceals the odors.
