Hello, my wife and I are considering buying a manufactured home. It's 2001 double wide (sorry we have yet to be told the make). We hired a home inspector who used a thermal imaging camera. He aimed it at various places on the walls and ceiling. One place he aimed was a wall near or at the ridge of the roof, the image showed two good sized purple streaks coming down inside the wall, (purple meaning cool or maybe damp?) He probed the area with a moisture meter, I didn't get a chance to see what the reading was but he said it was good. I don't know how deep the probes went into the drywall to get an accurate reading. My question is: He said the moisture reading was "good", then how does this explain the cool streaks it showed inside the wall? Thanks in advance and Thanks again.
FLIR imagining is related to temperature differentials. The moisture meter eliminated the presents of moisture (or the evaporation of such), which would lead one to believe its air leakage; or some other form of air admittance (as Trapper suggested).
Double wide meaning trailer eh?
Could possibly be the area where the two were joined
