Ours does that quite often. Didn't know it could really be fixed. I just "rock it", as I say. I'm good at it. Say, I want it to go down. It starts going down, stops, starts to go back up. I don't let it. I stop it right there. So it's already got a little headway down. I push the button again to go down. Sometimes it's a bit of a repeat repeat but it really doesn't take long and it gets into gear. I do this with the remotes or at the side door.
So, it can be fixed. Hmmm. Maybe I'll quit rocking and start spending a little.
Yea when it starts going up, I stop it, then press again, and it'll just continue going up.
Once I pressed the light button by accident ( the light bulb for the garage door) and the door went up!
Had this issue plenty of times. Most of the time the sensors are not perfectly lined up. Normally takes one person missing with the sensor and another hit the opener over and over until it works to find out when they're level. Usually with the sensor issue it will open or close a foot or two then stop and go back. There have been times where the door with go a couple feet and then almost jam to a stop then go back. Three times it was do to a wheel riding on the side of the rail. Put DW40 and some grease on the wheel and slightly moved the track. One time is was do to a track holder coming loose and the entire right side of the door was riding off the track.
LOL. Our garage door does the same thing, but only in cold weather. I figure the cold weather causes a metal part to contract, making something tight, and causing the door to malfunction. I could not figure out what it was though.

I have an occasional issue with mine, but it only seems to happen in very hot weather! The door will go all the way down, then immediately go all the way back up. All I need to do to close it, is to hold in the wall button until the door reaches bottom, then let go. It will stay down.
We have occasional problems (twice a year) getting one of our doors to close. I tracked it down to the sun hitting one of the sensors at a particular angle. When that happens, I take the remote and stand so that the sensor is in my shadow. After a few days the sun is at a different angle in the sky and everything is fine again. We are currently using that side of the garage for storage and not parking a car there, so it is not an issue.

The problem only lasts for a short time each day.
Ah. I'll have to check that. The sun does hit mine some of the day. Very interesting.
There are 2 adustment screws on the opener itself. One of them adjusts how much space is left at the bottom between the door and the floor, and the other adjusts the amount of force that the opener applies to the door before it senses it needs to reverse direction. Turn this second screw to apply more force - if it's now set to 1/2, turn to 3/4 for example. This is assuming the rollers and pulleys are good and screws that hold the frame up are tight.
