I heard above-ground pool is cheaper to build than in-ground pool. But in-ground is considered more desirabe (maybe because people don't want to climb??).
Well my house happens to sit on a slope so the back of the house deck is 4' above ground. I'm thinking if I build a pool to be flush with the deck height, I can actually build an above-ground pool. I can then surround it with decks to make it feel like in-ground. The effect is something like in this picture.
Above ground pools have advantages and disadvantages. It also depends on the quality level you buy.
Above ground pools generally do not last as long, but once your kids move out, will you still want a pool?
The biggest negative about above ground is the appearance. The biggest positive I know of is they are easier to take care of/repair - especially the filter system. No digging up pipes if they leak.
Not sure if your deck will be at the same level as your house, if so, that is a big plus.
my brother had an above the ground pool and he no longer has it , One side collapsed one day and flooded 3neighbors yards . His insurance had to replace one neighbors sod , another neighbors vegetable garden and anothers yard . He has never had another pool ,he does not even want an in the ground pool . We have the yard for one ,but we don't want one because the maintenance on it, the cost to run the pump and it is an all around hassle that we simply don't want . A lot of Hoas have banned the above the ground pools because of the risk if something goes wrong and they kind of look trashy .
You mean old pickup truck; the Camaro is up on blocks in the driveway.
LOL...don't forget the clothesline hanging up in the back, and the 2 foot tall weeds surrounding the above ground pool.
