A plumber friend recommends turning of the water to the house. His theory is that nothing good can come of having your water on while you are away, but a waterline break that goes undetected for a week or two can destroy your house.
Cameras with remote view. Outside security lights. Friends or neighbors to check on the house and take care of the mail. Ask neighbors to park their car in your driveway. Have a light timer. Leave radio on.
Make it look like someone is living in. Have someone to cut your grass.
Do not post any info on social media that you are on vacation. Do not post pictures from your vacation till you come back.
Have a friendly cop to drive by from time to time.
Turn off the water. Turn off the power to your expensive gadgets.
Ask your neighbors to keep an eye out for suspicious activity. Let the local police you will be away for several weeks. DO turn off the water, don't ask how I know that one, Ugly!
Keep your thermostat at a reasonable level. Stop your mail and or news delivery.
Why is that a trick question on House Forum? Obviously OP wants to know how to secure his property while he is away...
Common sense isn't a thing anymore???
