Not a single dead mouse in the six traps I set last night. How utterly bizarre.
Was the bait gone? Mice learn how to get it without springing the traps. The trigger may not be set delicately enough. Also, if they have access to other food they may not have enough interest in trap bait.

No, looked like the peanut butter was still there. There's no other food in the house, that I know of.
Under the influence of the "eww" factor, I placed these crunchy, sugar-free, organic peanut butter baited traps in a small area several feet in diameter. I wonder if I should have spaced them out, throughout the kitchen. Wonder if that's the problem?
Or wonder if it was just the one, single mouse I found? And there weren't any more?

Mouse traps should be placed perpendicular against a wall, with the peddle end facing the wall.

Maybe they prefer the cheapo non-organic junk peanut butter over the fancy stuff.
Seriously though, you might have caught the least cautious mouse first leaving the other more savvy mice who didn't dare the trap. Spread the traps out and leave them alone. If there are more mice you will probably catch some. When I wrote that the mice may have other food sources I meant that the MICE have probably stockpiled some somewhere. As they consume what they've stored, your traps may start to hold more interest.
