Have to give a thumbs up to Ryobi. We bought a garage door opener almost two years ago. It was having issues. Ended up calling. They sent a new keypad, new door sensors and a new power head. All covered under warranty. They didn’t even try to make me jump through the typical bs hoops to see if they can diagnose it over the phone

I just today was using a Ryobi cordless drill that I bought to build an enormous deck system well over ten years ago. I used a corded Ryobi to do all the deck screwdriving, since I didn't need the range of a cordless and there aren't that many batteries in the world, but the cordless did yeoman duty on the rest of the project and has been well-used ever since. Finally had to buy a new pair of batteries for it, which traditionally has been the point that the whole system is worn out and it's not worth the cost of batteries alone. I expect to buy another set someday.

And the corded Ryobi, which I bought moderately well used, is still going strong as well.

That they have good CS is about what I'd expect.

I've have plenty of ryobi tools corded and cordless, never broken any of them. I know a contractor who uses them too, loves them. I have nothing but good things to say about their products.

Good. Cheap. Reliable.

Any vendor that figures this out has my business.

Good to know about the customer service. I bought my first Ryobi took a couple years ago and it's still going strong, love it - a corded drill.

On the opposite end, Black and Decker has gone into the toilet. I won't buy another tool from them. They used to be good, but no more.

I was surprised when the CS lady just listened to my issue, wasn’t trying to blame me for it, and said I’ll send out new sensors, keypad and power head. It was a nice change from the usual you must of dine sinething wrong CS line. That’s if you get a real person and not a billion number prompts which Ryobi did not have.

I have a bunch of Ryobi cordless tools. Never had an issue with any of them. On Black Friday I bought a 10 inch sliding compound miter saw for $129.99...regular price was $219.99.

Their cordless and electric stuff may be okay, but their gas powered equipment is terrible.

I love their battery operated lawnmower except for the fact that one battery won't do both my front & back yard. It takes me sometimes 3 days to get the entire yard done. I guess I could just buy another battery but don't want to spend the money right now.

I bought a ton of stuff from the Ryobi one line over the past year and a half and was very happy until a month or so ago. I would say average use, not every day.
Anyway, 3 of 4 batteries have crapped out and 2 of 3 charging stations crapped out as well.
I've been meaning to call and see what they say or will do. I don't think I have any of the reciepts so I've been procrastinating because I feel like it would be moot.

I have the older yellow Ryobi One, the batteries went to crap in fairly short order.

I have a Ryobi string trimmer, it worked for the first year...and then never again, and it would have cost more to repair it than what I paid for it.

In my current job I drive hundreds to thousands of fasteners every day, from 3" drywall screws to 3/8 x 4" bolts, using either the green Ryobi One or a DeWalt. The DeWalt has significantly more power and speed, and gets the jobs done *much* faster than the Ryobi.

For the money, if you plan on *really* using your tools, it's better to pay the extra for DeWalt or Porter Cable rather than trying to save a few bucks on the cheaper stuff.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And, *forget* Vanon replacement batteries, they suck big time. The company bought them to replace aging DeWalt batteries because they were cheaper...or so they thought...yeah, they cost less for a reason- they crapped out within weeks and the company ended up purchasing genuine DeWalt batteries anyway.
