I'm 64 and have moved 27 times. Other than my childhood home, the home I'm living in now is the longest I've ever lived anywhere (7 years). I have no doubt another move will be coming up in the next few years....but I'm hoping it will be the last. I'd love to put down some roots at long last.
I just realized today that I've lived in this house longer than any other home ever - five years. After moving 38 or 39 times so far (lost track), my husband is going to have a really hard time getting me out of this house.

That's how I feel about my house. I moved in with him about 5 years before we got married. He bought the house with his ex. It was a comfortable house but it was never really mine-even thought I TRIED to make it mine. I did not choose it (but I chose him). But, the house we live in now is MINE. I have joked that it is mine and I allow my husband to live there. I can't ever imagine moving again-but you never know.
I'm in my late 20s and, not counting college dorm life, I've lived in 9 homes in two countries across three continents. I've lived in NYC, Baltimore, New Orleans, Sydney, Honolulu, and northern Michigan.
I moved 12 times in my first 26 years, but I was fortunate to live in the same house from age 5-18. Made my 13th move to my current home, where I have lived for the past 25 years.
Dec. 1992 - Feb. 1993 - was my dad's parents' house, they moved in 2001; probably occupied by someone else now
Feb. 1993 - July 1994 - was my mom's parents' house, they still live there
July 1994 - fall 1996 - someone else lives there now
fall 1996 - Feb. 17, 2001 - abandoned, demolished Aug. 9, 2018
Feb. 17, 2001 - Nov. 17, 2018 - someone else lives there now
Nov. 17, 2018 - present
That should be 6. I'm 26 years old.
7 if you want to count the college dorm I lived in from Aug. 25, 2011 - May 8, 2013.
I'm on dwelling #6 and I'm 60 years old. I don't remember #1 since my parents moved when I was a baby.
#1 house I was born in (1 yr)
#2 house I was raised in (20 years)
#3 my first apartment! (2 years)
#4 my second apartment after getting married (2 years)
#5 my first house (8 years)
#6 my second and current house (27 years)
I'm hoping for one more move, I want a change of scenery.
Age 0-21: 2 (Parents apartment, then first home)
Age 21-27: 5 (My Navy days)
Age 27-38: 1 (My first house when I was single)
Age 38-64: 1 (House as a married couple)
Moving this year to our retirement home (May be our last)
0-18= 3 depending on how you count #1 and #3. 1 burnt down. Lived 2 doors down when parents rebuilt on same land and #3 was the smaller replacemnt home they built because insurance did not cover enough to rebuild to original homes size and quality.
18-22 = 5 including 2 college dorms.2 houses, and 1 apartment while in college
22-28 = 1 house 3 apartments one was on campus for grad school in summer
29-70 = 8 Became a couple in a different state and upsized as the family grew. Downsized to a 3 bedroom condo after the last finished college. Then upsized to a house again because hated condo living. Then downsized to a smaller house farther away from ocean(10 miles in now) and where we didn't depend on electricity to run pump for water. Figure I will move one more time if I out live my husband because a house with a big yard is not something I want to deal with alone
